The walls (brickwork) of the loft are prepared to receive the heavy duty steel beams (RSJs). A 25 tonne telescopic crane lifts the individual beams into the exposed roof cavity of your property - always a dramatic sight to behold! When the beams have been set into the existing walls, bolted together and inspected by the Local Authority surveyor, independent floor joists are installed to create a load bearing floor. The walls and roof of the extension are formed, insulated and finished with foil-backed (heat barrier) plasterboard.

Any internal partitions (stud walls) are constructed and windows/fire escape fitted. A finish of plaster is then applied throughout. At this stage, our plumbers' will install the sanitary ware (usually ordered and supplied by you), supplys, pumps, wastes and radiators. The plumber will need to access the hot water storage tank and tap into the central heating system, both usually on the first floor. Our electricians' will discuss the type and number of fittings and advise on cable runs to the main box and any legal regulations that are required, eg smoke alarms, extractors, etc).
